If your student is planning on attending a University of California campus the application filing period is November 1 through November 30. The priority filing period for California State University is October 1 through November 30. Students can apply directly on-line. UC: www.ucop.edu/pathways

On the Road to College Checklist

Your senior year of high school is an important part of the college planning process. You’ll need to decide which colleges and universities to apply to, send in your applications, explore financial aid and scholarship options. Despite the fun senior year atmosphere, it’s not a time to catch senioritis and slack off. You need to stay focused and graduate in the best standing possible.

Fall (August-October)

-Attend a college fair and visit colleges you are interested in
-Finalize your college list and write down application deadlines and test dates
-Register for and take SAT or ACT.
-Register for a pin online for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Winter (November-February)

-Complete online application and scholarship applications
-Submit online FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1

Spring (March-May)

-You will receive admission decisions through early May. Review acceptance letters and financial aid information with parents
-Once you choose a college, notify the other schools that you will not be attending
-Send your tuition deposit to the school you will be attending
-Take Advanced Placement (AP) exams and IB exams and have scores sent to your future school
